Melissa Wiley

Melissa Wiley is the author of more than a dozen books for kids and teens including The Prairie Thief, Inch and Roly Make a Wish, Fox and Crew Are Not Friends and The Martha and Charlotte Little House books.    Melissa is a delight and shares about her enthusiasm for children and writing.

Both Melissa and her husband share responsibility for looking after their 6 children.  “I get the whole day with the kids and I really love that and then a good long writing shift.  Really, the way that we’ve made it work is carefully splitting up the duties and really making time for and respecting each other’s work time.”

Melissa’s unexpected success was: Hanna’s Christmas   “As a Mom who reads books out loud to her children over and over and over, every book that I write, especially picture books, are going to be read out loud.   You want it to be engaging, and have beautiful language, and be a pleasure both for the child and the parent who are going to be reading that book together.”
