Yvonne Godfrey

Yvonne Godfrey is passionate about helping Young Adults on their journey to independence into their adult world.  She’s appeared on the World’s strictest parents and has self published a book, Parenting Yadults.

Yvonne’s favourite quote is one about embracing the hardship, knowing that you can find gems as you do.  Jim Rohn  “Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems, wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenge, wish for more wisdom.”

Yvonne and I discuss marriage and she has some interesting insights.  “The basis of unhappiness and conflict is unrealised expectations….Most times what we have to is re-define the expectation….When you re-establish and redefine the expectations life can be wonderful because then you can exceed your expectations.  “Oh wow, it’s going to be hard work, but the rewards are going to be greater…. When you get that mentality life can be very rewarding.”

Yvonne and her Husband Simon are riding 500km in 5 days to raise money for two new orphanages for boys and girls to be rescued from sex slavery in Thailand. You can support them here: Thailand Ride.   “We feel responsible to live life optimally while we can.”

Yvonne is wise in whom she invests her time with.  “I really love adding value to the people who add value to me.”

Yvonne shares some great parenting advice she used on her time on The World’s Strictest Parents.  “Don’t threaten what you’re not willing to follow through.”
